‘AGITATE BRITAIN’ NOKI/JAMIE REID
JUNE/JULY 2022

EXHIBITION TEXT

This third exhibition at NoHAWKERS presents work by Jamie Reid (b.1947) and Noki (b.1971); artists whose uncompromising approach creates a diverse output which attacks and undermines political and branded consumerist ideology, to present a rigorous aesthetic with which to deal with the world. Both artists advocate a very necessary and provocative creative jolt. This abrupt, fierce and rough graphic alarm call wakes us up from the numbing dream-state of apathy and unthinking consumerism. Presented in this exhibition are works from the heart and also the street – created to be worn as much as to be viewed on canvas. Reaching beyond the personal meanings and individual nature of each image, they implore us to question, disturb and activate.

The faces behind the mask may have changed, but it’s not over yet…
